For the most part, Champaign County is a nice place to live. Recently, however there has been an increase in crime, such as shootings, fights, and drug abuse. This is in a very small section of Champaign county and is resolved fairly quickly by our amazing police department. The best areas of Champaign county are the ones further from the city- I like to call it "Country Living". You are further from city lights and sound, you can be one with yourself, and really enjoy natures beauty without being off the grid!

As a big city girl, coming to Champaign was a big change. Public transportation does not operate as long as they do in the city. Also, public offices and businesses tend to observe more holidays, causing inconveniences at times. This is not a place for a single person wanting to live their best life. I would recommend this location to a college student seeking affordable housing, or a family seeking a small and quiet residential area.
The Champaign-Urbana area is incredibly diverse. As a college town, the nightlife opportunities are nearly endless, with new attractions added almost constantly. Just recently, we have gained apartment complexes, restaurants, an indoor rock climbing/bouldering business, and a new indoor trampoline park. We have bowling, laser tag, ice skating, mini golf, dancing, museums, theaters, and much much more. The downside is the crime, but it is mostly isolated to the area around the college and easy to avoid. Otherwise, Champaign is a place with opportunities right within reach.
