Boone is a great place if you're a college student - plenty of places to hang out, shop, and eat. Especially if you're on ASU's campus. Off campus, however, a drastic change happens. There isn't a lot to do off campus without commuting 45 minutes to another town. The schools in Boone are high quality because ASU is a premier teaching college, and many of the teachers at the surrounding public schools have degrees from ASU. Crime is very low, so it is a very safe environment, and, therefore, family friendly. Because it is a college town that also thrives on tourism, however, the cost of living is incredibly high. While Boone is both a college and tourist town, the local culture is a blend of the traditional South and mountain cultures, so diversity can be hard to come by. ASU offers the most diversity to be found within the town, and most diverse organizations on campus are open to the public. The town of Boone and ASU, which is at the heart of Boone, work very well together.
We need more urban areas and better handling of the Coronavirus. Boone County should have more influence on the state of the whole based on our location and having Mizzou in Columbia.
There is a lot to do here in Columbia! We have over 150 restaurants, a lot of great bars, multiple music venues, four college campuses, four dog parks, lots of resources to help families and also have a lot fo great places to enjoy the outdoors!
