Living in Aiken County has had its advantages and disadvantages. There is little diversity here and being a minority in a small town where majority of the population is conservative, racist, sexist, or homophobic, it is hard to deal with at times. Due to the towns small population, you would have drive 30 plus minutes to the next town to go to the mall, go to the movies, or to do anything fun for that matter. The weather, air and water quality is decent compared to big cities. The town is more peaceful and safer. However there is still danger within our schools, constant bomb threats and fear of shootings. Overall I would give a rating of 3 out of 5. It is a nice place to retire and settle down in, but if your more into the busy city life then I would not recommend.
Aiken county is a great place to live with lots of things to see, experience, and do. With a community centered around horses it's an equestrian's paradise!
Aiken is home. Aiken is not a big place with tall buildings and or shopping malls. We don't have much to do for the teens around town but I have enjoyed the trees, horses, and the warm welcome of those who have been here most of their lives. All places can approve, especially on how we treat one another as a whole, but I feel everyone is always welcome in Aiken!
