It's Indiana. If you're looking for nice weather year-round, this is probably not the state for you. The winters are cold and the summers are (normally) hot. The weather can also change drastically over the course of one day--the morning could be warm and sunny, the evening cold and rainy. Some years, we continue to get snowstorms into the spring season. Other years, it'll be 60 degrees in January. Thunderstorms are frequent during the summer, and tornadoes are a threat once in a while. However, it's really not as bad as it sounds. Most of the time, the weather is pleasant. Just be prepared for constant changes.
There isn't a huge variety of stores here. Most shopping is done at Wal-Mart. There are two Krogers, a Big Lots, and a couple Dollar Generals. You can usually find whatever you need in those places, but I wish there were more options to choose from when you want to go shopping.
I don't know anything about the bar/nightlife, as I'm underage. The restaurants here are pretty good, though. Little Mexico and Rancho Bravo are popular choices for Mexican food. There are quite a few fast food options. If you're really passionate about sub sandwiches, you'll be delighted to know that there at least three Subways here.
