Many local business are consistently welcoming and greatly serve the local community. Though the area is very commercial the local business scene can be very strong in certain areas and really bring everyone together. Though prices may be higher, I prefer to give my business to the locals because the service is always better.
Lots of great food for whatever your taste. If you prefer commercial restaurants, they are everywhere and if you want locally owned diners, ethnic food or snack places they are everywhere as well. The options are endless in 5 miles any direction of my current location.
I have not worked too many jobs in my short life, but have always worked at non-profit or local businesses and found that this is consistently what I prefer.
