Brewster is a nice, diverse town. Being that it exists within Southeast, there are many aspects to it. Brewster Village has a high hispanic population and is the most urban that Putnam County gets. The train station is in the Village and is accessible. Brewster Hill/Brewster Heights are both fairly rural (if not suburban).

There's not a lot to do in Brewster unless you hunt and fish, and even then, you need to apply for permits and drive 20 minutes out of the way. The public parks are poor quality, there are no skateparks or theaters within walking distance, and the hiking trails, although abundant, really lack depth. The community exists but it's hard to find out anything considering there's no concrete source of information to be found. The schools are good and there are some good places to eat. I've never felt unsafe.
Overall, a nice town. Great sense of community. Few restaurants, mostly Italian or Mexican food. You have to go to nearby towns or drive 20+ to really get diverse foods.
