I would have given it a 1 but it has beautiful scenery. That is the only thing going for this town. It is small town, rural & very unfriendly. I have lived all over the world and this is the most unfriendly place that I have ever lived. I have been stalked, vandalized, robbed & assaulted by neighbors. My water was poisoned and my trees were poisoned. The police and the Ag Center did absolutely nothing. Instead they targeted me when I am not or have never been a criminal. I have helped neighbors feed their animals & even gave them clothing, etc. Then I was turned on. Despecable behavior. Homeless in Ashleville are kinder. These people will lie, cheat and steal and then stab you in the back. Do not come to Brevard. I would call it a rural Hell hole!
I wouldn't move out here again...if my life depended on it. This is the absolute worse place that I have ever lived as far as people go. The mountains are lovely and so is the wild life...if they aren't killing it. They will torture your animals, terrorize your kids and destroy your property, peace of mind & tranquility. This place is a horrible place to live unless you have a couple of million dollars in the bank! I am in the process of lawsuits! (PLURAL)
I moved to Brevard with my husband in the spring of 2022 thanks to family circumstances. I used to visit here as a child in the late 90s, and it's crazy to see how much has changed and how much is still the same.
Both my husband and I are from big cities in other states, so there has been quite a bit of adjusting to do in a small town like Brevard. There's not nearly as many resources in town as we're used to, but there's enough to get by and Asheville and Hendersonville are close enough to drive to. The nature here is absolutely gorgeous, and luckily we both really love the rain because it rains here a lot.
My main complaint is that everything outside of big name franchises closes around 9 or 10 pm, so night owls like my husband and I tend to not have a lot of opportunity to go out. Additionally, next to nothing is open on Sundays. Traffic isn't terrible compared to where we're from, though some of the stop light locations and timers around downtown are very inconvenient.
