Having grown up in Brandon, Florida for the past 26 years of my life I am able to say that the town is wonderful! Brandon has rich history of being the premier suburb of Tampa and yet at the same time being a town all by itself. It is home to the first high school, middle school and elementary school in Hillsborough County. Brandon, Florida is not just a place on a map or quiet town, it is the heart of Hillsborough County and it has grown and is continues to grow into the future. Without the town of Brandon, Tampa, FL would struggle to thrive as it does today, so please come visit Brandon and we will welcome you!
Over crowded. Congested and terrible traffic conditions. Infrastructure not in place to handle current population or the influx of new residents. Retail and an average selection of restaurants. Average health care. Crime is here, but you just need to be vigilant about keeping car and home doors locked, adequate night lighting, etc. Good segment of the residents are very conservative leaning. Therefore the community is not very diverse. However access to Tampa is good via the Selmon Expresssway and Interstate 4.
Brandon is where I basically grew up, from High School to adulthood, its the 'city within a city' of Tampa. Just close enough to Downtown without being lost in the concrete jungle. I would say Brandon is mostly family oriented, with more than enough shopping, eateries and municipal than anyone could need. Every major chain as well as some of the best developed mom and pop places, you can find it all. The main strip, Highway 60 AKA Brandon Blvd AKA Adamo Drive, is easy to traverse from East to West and vice versa, within a 20 minute span of time. Give or take on the time of day! It also leads directly into the heart of Tampa Bay or go further into Clearwater or St. Pete!
If you are looking for a well established place to start a family, or retire to, this would be it. Though it has been established for quite awhile, it has grown by leaps and bounds over the past 30 years. Definitely not behind the times! There is also plenty of access to what the general Tampa area has to offer.
