There are plenty of things to do here! There are two dog parks in town, several restaurants, a zoo, children's museum, etc. The farmer's market and third sunday market have good finds! Constitution Trail is nice for walking, running, or biking. Bloomington is only about 2 hours away from Chicago which is nice.

The town is very boring with nothing to do. I lived there for over 15 years and never felt I truly belonged so eventually moved. Almost everyone works at State Farm. I feel there is too much State Farm worship. There is absolutely no diversity. This city is very white collar so some rich snobbery going on here. Alot of fake people!
Only thing good about it is the bike trail. I thought rent and housing was kind of high considering how boring the town is.
Bloomington/Normal is great place to live, I live on the border between the Bloomington and Normal. We have two universities, IL State Univ. in Normal and IL Wesleyan Univ. in Bloomington. The cost of housing is reasonable and the cost of living is about the nat'l average. The cities of B/N are mostly walkable and since I live on the border both downtown Bloomington and uptown(downtown) Normal are within walking distance. We have a good public transportation bus system which serves most areas of B/N. There are many restaurants from which to choose and an abundance of competitive grocery stores which helps keep the cost of food very reasonable. It is a genuine 4 season climate which is a plus for those who enjoy all of the seasons. B/N is served by ten Amtrak trains per day which makes getting to St Louis & Chicago very easy and convenient. Day trips to Chgo are very doable by taking the 730 am train to Chgo and returning back to B/N on the 5 or 7 pm train.
