The people here are generally very friendly. There are plenty of things to do in the area and new businesses are growing and developing. The downside is that it can take a bit to get to a mall, grocery store, or restaurant but as mentioned the area is growing so in time this may not be as big as an issue. If I could do it all over again I would definitely choose to live here. Compared to other parts of the country we don't typically have any natural disasters such as tornados or hurricanes so I feel safe.
Violent crime is almost nonexistent. Almost everyone is a gun owner, so the very few break-ins that do occur usually happen when no one is home, since the thieves do not want to get shot.
I love Grand Rapids because it is right in the middle of everything. You can go to Muskegon and Michigan adventures in 30 minutes. Or, you could go thirty minutes west to see Lake Michigan. Grand Rapids is in a perfect location.
