Blackman Charter Township Reviews
Not much to do. Kind of isolating. There's a clearly visible wealth gap between the impoverished communities of color and the middle class/upper middle class white families. Not the most progressive area, not the most conservative area either. But it's very conservative. Growing up as a closeted transgender and queer person here was very difficult, and I can't say the area is LGBT friendly. There is a lot of bigotry, racism, and anti lgbt-rhetoric. However, there's some very accepting people here too, I would say in a smaller number. As far as geography, the area has a lot of beautiful nature and is close to major bodies of transportation. The natural beauty of the countryside areas here is very nice. A lot of farmland in the more rural zones. Most of the township has a "suburban" feel. If you're a straight, middle-class white family here, you'll probably fit right in. If you're LGBT or a person of color, you may have a more difficult time here. It's not terrible, but it's not great.
I've lived in the same neighborhood on Evanston all of my life and it may be a stretch to say this but I think it is probably one of the safest neighborhoods in Blackman township. Nothing really major happens in the neighbor hood we don't have break ins or angry or aggressive neighbors. In my neighborhood I know a lot of the people around us, we talk on accession and I've known them since I've lived in my house.
The schools are great in this area. Most people are friendly. The roads are terrible, work is being done but the construction on what is being done makes no sense. People of dying is high here, a lot of car accidents, and shootings downtown. There are always stray cats and the town is pet and family friendly to the community.
