Blackfoot Reviews

Recently, I had the opportunity to ride with one of the police chiefs of Blackfoot. He was escorting me to a mental health facility in Idaho Falls. I had hit a low point in my life and overdosed on my pain medication that I had from a recent foot surgery. For this reason, the police chief was escorting me from the ICU to the mental health facility. During this ride, the police chief took a special interest in me and my life. He told me of his own struggles with depression and how he was winning this battle between the mind and spirit. He did not make me feel less of myself for my decision; rather, he built me up in spirit and gave me the confidence I needed to survive the next crucial days of my life.

With authorities like this, I am confident in the protection they offer and the values they bring to Blackfoot, Idaho. Although there is crime in the area, the police force is always hard at work building up and protecting the citizens of Blackfoot.
We moved here from a smaller town. We loved the small town, but we needed to be closer to ill family members. It is not as big as most places, still pretty small. There are not a lot of things for the children to do that are safe. As far as help and resources for mentally ill or children with Autism, there is only one place that treats them. The schools are not ready for children with special needs, and there are no doctors that do medication management for children, we have to drive to another town.
South East Idaho is a fairly good place to live. Lots of space, free parking pretty much everywhere (to us it's weird that in big cities people have to pay for parking). Real Estate is fairly cheap here as well as rent. You can buy a nice two story house with a good sized lawn for under $200,000 and rent for a nice apartment usually runs under $1,000. There is occasionally some crime, like anywhere, but overall it is still a place where you can feel comfortable letting your kids go out with friends on the weekend to the movies by themselves. Job opportunities in the professional field are limited but if your skills lean more towards the technical field: mechanic, construction, etc. There is plenty of work and the ability to start your own business.
