I moved to Bismarck in 1980, got a job, met a variety of public figures of the community, enjoyed the variety of food vendors, loved social events put sponsored by the Downtowner's Association or local organizations, strolled the local parks and historical sites, made new friends and also found 'Love', raptured sunrises/sunsets of Nature's Beauty surrounding this big town. The clean environment, excellent educational facilities, friendliness of its residents, employment opportunities, and reasonable cost of living are attributes. I'm hoping to develop a business that will offer new services to those from children to elderly, low-income and will bring a union of all walks or levels of life together for one purpose. I get excited just thinking about what needs to be done to make this transpire; but first, my education needs to be completed!

Bismarck is a lovely city for those who want to settle down. It is very family friendly and has a strong and active community. As the capital of the state, it has a very active political scene. Unfortunately, local politics are extremely corrupt and the budget misspent. I would like to see that change and have attempted to be part of that change. Geographically, it is a beautiful place to live. Bismarck is located in the Missouri River valley. It is an historic town, begun by the Northern Pacific Railroad, and has many historic sites of interest in the city and surrounding area. My biggest disappointment about Bismarck is that is is overwhelmingly socially conservative, though not so politically conservative as it claims to be, as its social conservatism bleeds into legislation.
Most kids turn to alcohol and drugs starting in middle school, due to lack of things to do. The people here are very closed minded and it feels very stagnant. The people don't like growth/change and I've seen license plates that say "Welcome to North Dakota, now leave". The food is terrible, bland, and will give you diarrhea. Everything is either closed or closes early on Sundays. The people are religious hypocrites who frequent bars and engage in not only pre-marital sex but brag about their sexual promiscuity. There is an increase in diversity, which is good to see. Not everyone falls into these categories, I know, but this is based on my observation. Would never recommend nor come back.
