Bethany is a very safe neighborhood nearby many schools, so it's convenient to get education for children. It's near several small centers like Bethany Village that has a small selection of grocery stores and restaurants. Downtown Portland is around a 30 minutes drive, and there are universities close by as well. There's a nice trail area for walking and running, and it's safe too. It's not too diverse, but it's becoming more diverse. There are big companies around like Nike, but they're around a 20 minuted drive away. Good place to raise children and work close to many different stores and schools but can be a little small.
The area as a whole is very nice. The neighborhood has been very open and welcoming, and the various restaurants/facilities are great. Roads have recently been fixed and traffic is rarely an issue. Restaurant selection is good and some restaurants stay open later for the "night owls".
Moved here two months ago and have had a great experience so far. Friendly, safe neighborhoods, excellent schools and an easy commute to downtown Portland. Lots of trails for exercise and dog walking, and lots of play parks for kids. A really safe and happy place to live.
