My family relocated from Philadelphia to the town of Berlin, MD at the age of 5. The locals are very warm and friendly for the most part and it has terrific schools with amazing teachers. Its a small and quiet town that provides a good place to plan for retirement or escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The town is located within driving distance of Ocean City, Rehoboth, and the city of Salisbury. I find this to be both a curse and a blessing, the remoteness of the town provides a sense of safety and comradery yet its this separation that some would find unappealing. Considering all factors the town of Berlin is good place to live but it could benefit from having a few more enriching opportunities for young people.
Review Berlin
Berlin was voted America's Coolest Small Town in 2014. Downtown Berlin is a cute little town with fun shops, antiques, and art galleries. The whole town does seem to go to sleep pretty early, but during the day there is plenty to do- beaches, nature trails, shopping. The area is still very rural, so it makes for very pretty landscapes and sunsets. The only downfall for me, is that there aren't a lot of career opportunities. Most of the jobs here are seasonal. It would be nice if there were more year-round opportunities instead of having to leave to start a career elsewhere.
Berlin is a great somewhat small town. It is very safe to be and a great place for kids. It also has some very great school. Many great ways and places to have fun! A family town
