TLDR - Bergenfield is awesome!
I moved here before my freshman year of high school and have two siblings that have gone through the elementary and middle schools. After graduating, I began to really appreciate the four years I've spent here so far as a teen.
Everything (malls, etc) is a 15 minute car ride away, and hopping on the frequent 167T/177T bus can get you to the city in less than 45 minutes. Everyone's super nice and the area is extremely safe. Most residents are hard working and honest people. Bergenfield's diversity is also great, and everyone is accepting of eachother.
The downtown district is also nice for shopping, and we have lots of different food places in town. The north side of town seems to be getting a lot nicer since I've moved here too!
Although rush hour / school dismissal traffic can be annoying, Bergenfield feels like a small suburban community with great people who care about eachother, and I am so grateful to live here.

Something I enjoy about Bergenfield is how the majority of the community is very tight and open. There are various community events that have allowed me to meet some of my bestest friends. However, overtime this loving and welcoming environment has declined. I think many of our residents, both young and old, have began to involve themselves in violence and more. I believe that a lot of teenagers in our town have been gaining an extreme interest into smoking and consuming marijuana. This spiral has caused an increase of violence within our community, which we wouldn’t have seen 5 years ago. I would really like this idea of fighting and smoking within teenagers in this town to change.
Bergenfield amongst most places I have visited in New Jersey, is definitely the most diverse. We have various cultural backgrounds that are celebrated, as well as sexual orientations that are highly supported. We value our education, athletics, music, and our community around us. The one downside about Bergenfield, is the lack of recreational activities (disregarding our parks) that are in our community. In order to go bowling, ice skating, or even play at an arcade, you would have to take a decent drive to find something entertaining to do.
