I've lived in Bensalem for 23 years and I've always mildly enjoyed the area. It's located just north of Philadelphia which is convenient if you want to explore the city without actually being in it. There are definitely some troublesome areas in town but it's easy to avoid as well. Bensalem has a nice community with some pretty friendly people. There's nearby malls, grocery stores, convenience stores, and just general shopping. Being located close to Philly has some downsides however. North Philly isn't the worst place by any means but the city in general has higher crime and poverty, which seems to seep into the suburbs a bit. Although, Bensalem has been ranked as one of the top 100 places to live. Overall, Bensalem has a nice balance of quiet and exciting, safety and danger, and even boring and fun.

It's very safe and visually attractive but sorely lacking in culture. If food is important to you, the only restaurants available are chains that mostly reheat from frozen. Diversity is poor. Physically near to Philadelphia but very poorly connected; getting to and from the city is not quick, cheap or convenient. Typical suburb, no particular defining features.
I have lived in Bensalem my whole life. It is a safe town with a lot of family oriented neighborhoods. They have a mall, tons of restaurants, and bars. We are also not too far from the city for people who enjoy going down there!
