I absolutely love Benicia. Unlike most residents, I haven’t lived here my whole life, but I think that makes me appreciate it a little bit more. It’s a quaint little town with a really close community that offers great connections to its residents. Despite its size, Benicia has so many distinct areas, each with something different to offer. I highly recommend checking out Benicia, particularly 1st Street during a celebration!

Benicia is a safe, upcoming city. It's not as affordable as some nearby towns such as Vallejo but it makes up for it with its sense of security and community. There's only only public middle school and high school so it feels like everyone knows everyone. Benicia can easily be described as boring but the addition of new restaurants and bakeries on First Street is helping to make the town more trendy. The seasonal weekly farmers' market is a nice way to get fresh produce and enjoy the small downtown area. The public high school is a mess. If you want your children to not be limited by administration who care more about how much money they can save the school district than your children's education, and you can afford it, I would recommend you send your teens to a high school outside Benicia. There is nearly no nightlife. It's a good proximity to San Francisco and the ferries.
I am from Benicia, CA born and raised! I overall enjoyed my experience as a Benicia resident because the public school district provided a great learning experience, the police force made the community safe, and there were many programs geared towards youth and family. The downtown scene was very enjoyable and provided entertainment to all age groups. The only thing the town lacked was true diversity and that was something I wish I could have experienced during my upbringing there. Overall, Benicia is a great town and I will always hold this home near and dear to my heart. I encourage anyone to visit because it is beautiful, on the water, and has a lot to offer for families.
