The small town means you get to know just about everyone. Though the high school is small, it holds lots of school spirit. I have developed life-long friends while living here, since the small-town experience allows you to really get to know the people you encounter everyday. Our community holds a diverse array of political views, ranging from far-right to far-left. There is not much racial diversity, as Belvidere is a predominantly white, county town. I would like to see more racial, ethnic, and religious diversity to allow those in the community to learn more of different backgrounds.

Some people compare it to Mayberry, but that town is fictional. This one is for real! Small, quaint, beautiful, friendly, safe: it's a great place to raise a family or retire or commute from. Annual Victorian Days celebrates the town's history, and there's a lot of stuff to celebrate! Definitely the best place I've ever lived.
Belvidere is an old Victorian town with a square mile radius. The Victorian houses are a sight to behold! Belvidere runs right along the Pequest river which makes this small town a prime fishing area. It is a must see!
