Bellevue is a charming little suburb of Pittsburgh. While every area has its downfalls, my family was relieved to find that Bellevue feels like a small town that just happens to sit only 8 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh. Everyone we've come into contact with has been extremely friendly and they remember you by name. There are a ton of little restaraunts and shops on the main drag. Our son attends Assumption School and I can tell you that we have never felt more welcomed in a Church or School family quite like this before. Bellevue is a pretty quiet area with young families and elderly folks making up the majority.
At one time Bellevue was a small flourishing community. Over the last decade the crummy apartments have ruined its old charm and character. There use to be a wide variety of small businesses and shops kids and adults could shop and hang out at. Now it's lined with empty buildings and somehow still no parking. It's sad to see what is a slow progressive demise of what was once a quaint working class community.
I like that Bellevue is a small borough and everyone knows one another. I'd like to see their education platform change. The quality of the education the high school kids receive isn't very great. Bellevue is a good town to raise a family or a nice place to live if you don't have a car because everything you need is in walking distance.
