As a resident of Belgrade for 19, soon to be 20, years I can say the town is a quiet town, but a good town. If you're looking for things to do and people to see, I can say there's plenty of both around. The lakes area is open to plenty of water-based recreations from tubing to kayaking. Belgrade's scenery is a sight to behold from 4th of July firework shows to the frozen pine branches in January at morning. The people here are decent and there's no shortage of good neighbors. If there's something in Belgrade not worth looking for, it's only a short ride to Oakland or Augusta; with Farmington, Skowhegan, and Rome a little ways out.
Belgrade is a little expensive to live in, but it is a quiet town with very beautiful scenery. It is a very wooded area, so if you like woods, its a nice place to live in. Belgrade Lakes is nearby so one can travel down to the photogenic small village to enjoy a peaceful walk by the water.
I have lived in Belgrade for 11 years. The town is very tourist friendly, and has a good community. It is very busy during the summer months.
