I was born and raised here and think this town is fantastic! In my 50 years, I have travelled the world with work, but I still keep coming back here.

We have a very close proximity to New York City, so it is a great commute to work. I can be in downtown NYC within 30 minutes. Bayonne has many AMAZING restaurants and is ethnically diverse (which lends itself to great international food!). There are many small cute boutique coffeeshops and stores opening. They have many great city events, including Festivals, art shows, etc.

Many of your conveniences are just a short walk/ drive away. The city is 3 miles by 1 mile and most people are very personable.

The schools are very good academically and zero tolerance for bullying. The Bayonne Board of Education is serious about providing a quality education.

Only downside we've experienced is the limited parking, like most urban areas. Most places you can walk to, if you re a bit centrally located.

As a daughter of Asian immigrants and a first generation American, growing up in Bayonne was particularly tough as I was almost always the odd one out. My culture did not line up with the other kids' in my classes and I was often teased. Thankfully, as Bayonne's population has increased noticeably in the past couple years, I have started seeing people who look a lot like me. It may seem so trivial to others, but just the familiarity of a face or outfit provides crucial reassurance; reassurance that I am not the odd one out, that I never was. Bayonne's diversity has definitely multiplied, although there are still many individuals who don't wish to see more of this change.
I have lived here in Bayonne, since 1982. We have an excellent Police Department, Fire Department and McCabes Ambulance (If you need them) are Johnny on the spot!.. Old term: Rapid Response. Yes, things have changed here over the years as the population is growing.
Nice restaurants, etc. But I feel very safe here. Mayor Davis is in my opinion, a very good mayor with a law enforcement background in this city and a finger on the pulse of the city and issues addressed accordingly. Happy to be a longtime resident of Bayonne.
