I would rate Bay City, MI as 5 stars. I currently live and work here and have no complaints besides the commute if you have to cross one of their three bridges. There are also trains that can slow your commute but I would rather have this than heavy traffic! Beautiful walking pathway down by the river and many parks to visit.

There are lots of wonderful water walk areas by the harbor, as well as a growing downtown area with new shops popping up all the time! There is a lot of history in the area as well, with it being a major port for the lumber industry of the 1870s. In addition, the Tall Ships festival is a huge event for the city, with US Battleships and large vessels (such as those featured in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies) are shown on displays throughout the harbor. One of the best events, however, are the fireworks displays that are shot from a barge in the harbor for the Fourth of July. It has been featured among the list of the top fireworks displays from the national level. Overall, it's quite the place!
Bay City is great! The downtown area is beautiful, there is a newly added "uptown". A variety of restaurants are available and there are many great school districts and neighborhoods to raise kids.
