Moved to town about 10 years ago. I found the people that I've meet friendly and has just enough of stores to fit our needs. The school system is outstanding and is ranked high for public schooling nationally. If you love boating, there are 4 marina's in town and one of the best golf courses in the state (Rhode Island Country Club) where they host the CVS Charity Classic every year. Bike path is great but plenty of safe street running can be had. There is even a rowing club that has been growing for the last few years that is a blast and great socially.

I do not understand the negative reviews, I have lived in plenty of "unfavorable areas" and have not experienced any of the described comments. Sure, the nightlife is not great but that is not why people move to this town. In the last 8 years, there has been an explosion of great restaurants in Warren and Bristol which is only a 15 minute drive at the most.

It is a quiet community with many green spaces; the bike path allows for residents to be active outdoors. However, it lacks diversity and is wrought with privilege. There is a small community of affordable housing, but generally, there are few opportunities for young people who grew up in the town to return as homeowners (unless there is inherited family wealth).
Barrington is a quaint town right outside of Seekonk, near to Providence. It has the small town feel, yet is near enough to city life to never feel like you are detached from the world. The community is very hands on, with lots of opportunities to meet and greet, and places to spend time pursuing common goals. The bike trails are plentiful, with much safety included, and open enough that you never need to step through mud or puddles to get where you want to go. A local dog park is the common hang out spot for those with a furry companion. Over all, Barrington is a great place to live, for children or retirement.
