Baker Reviews

I like Baker for the calmness. However, there needs to be more restaurants and more activities for people to enjoy. It feels like a country town where nothing is going on, but we at least have fast food like McDonald's, Wendy's, Popeyes, and more fast food. There are hardly any actual restaurants here. The few we do have are not very good and the places usually look dirty and run down. There are never any events going on to bring the community together. There is an issue with safety as there has been more gun violence here and it makes me and others feel like you cannot be comfortable in your own neighborhood. Then the school is not very good, so most people send their kids to schools in the surrounding area versus the actual schools in Baker. The commute time in Baker is good as the town is so small. There are no real job opportunities besides fast food because there is nothing in Baker.
I raised 5 children in Baker. The school originally was good but it changed as the children got older. Living on a fixed income I couldn't afford to change schools. There was lack of community involved activities and with so many relocated hurricane Katrina victims the neighbors and school system kept tarnishing. But as of 2017/2018 things are slowing turning around.
The environment is nice and quiet for the most part. There are plenty of kids in the neighborhood and everyone treats each other like family! I've lived here for about 3 years and I'm glad I moved here.
