This is the area where I have lived all of my life, and I think it's a great place for people who are looking for a smaller town to live. The school systems are great and the teachers actually care about you and not just getting you through the class. I would probably chose to live here again if I could do it all over because it is a great small town!
Avon is a small town - with small town appeal. There are all sorts of craft type places where you can buy pottery or take a workshop to learn how to make your own pottery. The town has a quaint bar and a number of very tasty restaurants. You can even get a $6.00 breakfast at the Village Restaurant. The people are friendly and welcoming. It is close to Conesus Lake, one of New York State's 'Finger Lakes'. It's a short 20 minute drive to Rochester, NY; 3rd largest city in New York State.
I think the police in this town are great! They are always there when they are needed. I feel very safe in this town, but there is an increasing number of crimes in this area.
