I like that it is a college town and safety is the number one goal. All of the area restaurants treat you with concern and make sure you get what you ordered. I have not been out to any of the night spots, but the students I have talked to enjoy going out in the city. Most of the residents work or go to school in the university.
This is a lower income area which shows in the houses here. While there are a few standout neighborhoods, most have a mix of housed that are forclosed or have been in the past and need a lot of work to fix the problems that they have. A good side to living here is that there is typically a lot of trees and fields, which are nice, and since there is not a lot of development around here, the taxes are not as much as the nearby counties.
Auburn is a very small town that does not have very many job opportunities. The few companies that are located here hardly ever hire workers because they are usually family owned businesses. However, there are a lot of great places to work if you have means of transportation into other towns which are about 10 minutes away by car.
