I moved my family here in 2001. We had small children and wanted to find a place with good schools and low crime. We looked all around Shelby and Tipton Counties. The property taxes were .25! So we moved here. It's 2018 now and our taxes are still low! We have a great police, fire and public service departments. The government is very attuned to the needs of the community. We have great parks that they keep working on to make gen better. There is a large splash pad at one of them. We have annual community events that the whole town and people from all around come to see. We have some growing pains because so many people moved here over that 15 years. I think we have about 9000 people now. But it still feels like a small town. We love our military, too. There is a large Naval base nearby and many of the Retired and active duty Sailors live in Atoka.

I moved here almost two years ago from a very heavily populated city and have really enjoyed the peace and quiet. Even though the town is small almost everyone here is very friendly and the town has something going on all the time. I love that. They have events like bbq fest of sorts, movie nights provided, hot chocolate, fake snow, and Santa. There are also a lot of parks with walking trails and a splash pad. The schools are really good. The teachers are great. It has a very community feel.
Not many activities in the town. Though, entertainment activities are growing throughout town so I'm sure there will be many soon. Safe environment. Great variety of restaurants. Not that many stores, but only a 10 minute trip away from lots of shops and restaurants.
