Athena Reviews
Rating 4.5 out of 5 2 reviews
I grew up here and loved it. Always felt safe and had room to grow. It is a very stable and close-knit community where everyone knows and cares for each other, and visitors are greeted with a friendly smile and hello. Roads are clean and main street showcases both modern and historic architecture. An Old West theater and saloon are currently under restoration. The park is small and quaint, and there is held a yearly festival called Caledonian Games, which celebrates Scottish heritage and culture. Churches are involved in the community as well. The school district is shared with Weston across the highway. I loved the high school teachers, who treated students like young adults, helped us achieve high standards, and made lessons fun and interesting. Very few jobs here; most are in bigger cities 20-30 minutes North and South. The town is surrounded by wheat and pea fields that smell amazing during harvest, and also by the Blue Mountains. A nice place to raise a family and retire.
I have grown up here and know most of the people who live here. The community is amazing and supportive. Everyone will pitch in when others need help.
