It's a very small community. Lots of crime, local court system makes no effort to make circumstances better, just creates an unending cycle. Very few job opportunities. Great private school programs.

I was born and raised in Atchison, I’ve lived in both the City and county. It’s a great place to raise a family. It is a family oriented town there are many activities to do throughout the year. The best ones are Amelia Earhart Festival and Lakefest.
I have lived in Atchison for more than 5 years and it is a a great place to retire and raise children. I wish there was more diversity in this town and more respect within our youth. I would love to see more opportunity and resources in Atchison for our youth, elderly and middle class. I do love this town, but like every city, we can always improve.
