I moved to Ashland, OR from Los Angeles just over a year ago. The community here is incredible! Everyone is so welcoming and friendly, and always willing to lend a helping hand when you need it. And if you love the outdoors, Ashland has everything you could ever ask for - from the numerous hiking trails, to rivers and lakes to kayak in, to Mt. Ashland for skiing/snowboarding - you'll never get bored. The only downside to living in Ashland is that, if you're not working in healthcare, alternative medicine, real estate, or farming there aren't too many jobs available, and you would likely have to go to Medford to find work.

Ashland is a beautiful town that caters to people of all types! I visited in October and fell in love with it so much that I decided to move here the following spring! There are so many cute local boutiques, shops, and attractions. If you like theatre, you will definitely love it here because there are so many shows that happen in the summer! The downtown area is pedestrian friendly and the town overall is a very eco-friendly area. I absolutely love this town and the people here that made it so welcoming!
I'm a full time student attending SOU, as well as a 30yr old girl (yes, girl, I've narrowed my mental age to be between years 17 - 23). The most significant component of who I am and how my lifestyle operates is my social role as "Mommy" to my 3 year old daughter. I love Ashland because It has positive atmosphere, collective-efficient community, open minded culture & appreciation for art & individuality. Every 1st Friday we closes its downtown main roads for the evening & invites local artists to display their work. The monthly art-walk is a city wide art appreciation/community event.
RTVD route 10 does public transportation right.
The school district (PreK through Graduate School) is successful in its methods for obtaining achedemic achievements. I believe this is due to the value held amongst the city residents which places people first and appreciates unique/new methods. This allows for interactive and progressive curriculum development within our educational departments.
