Ashland still offers small town charm near vibrant city life. 25 minutes north of Richmond, this quaint town boasts a train track through the center of town, a small college, quaint locally owned shops and a selection of restaurants. Antique stores, coffee shops, a town variety show and friendly atmosphere are all alive here. Washington DC is 80 miles north, and it's an easy drive to Charlottesville, Richmond or the beach!

Good but the police are not willing to make it more public of activity within the neighborhood. My leasing office has been trying to get information provided about occurrences within the property and the police tell her its not required to make the property manager aware of the event and then directed her to a general website. Seems lazy to me!
Ashland, VA is a small town maybe 25 minutes from the city of Richmond. It's very quiet and knit with many businesses that keeps it booming. The schools are excellent and there's even a college (Randolph Macon) in the center. The community is pretty sociable. There's no night life, but again the city is nearby if you would like to experience that.
