Working in Ashland
No middle of the road here. You live on one side of the tracks or the other. Very cliquish town. Serious crime has reared its head: meth houses and murders, including at least two committed by a convicted serial killer. Drugs are prevalent in Ashland. Job opportunities come and go. Very few career opportunities here. Most commute for that sort of thing. Taxis by appointment and sometimes you have a long wait for a cab. No public busses, no transport on holidays. Rent is expensive for what you get.
Ashland is a growing town. It is slowing getting better paying jobs and more businesses are interested in it. We also have a growing drug problem here, as does most of Ohio. Its very unfortunate. It's even more depressing when you see drug deals or people doing drugs and you call it in and the cops asks you "how do you know its drugs". They would rather stay in the parking lot they're sitting in watching videos on their phone than check on some suspicious activity.
I moved to Ashland two years ago. This town has everything that you need plus easy access to I-71. Ashland is in Amish Country and the outskirts of the city are very rural. Ashland county has many walking trails and parks. A college town that offers a wide variety of activities and and many opportunities for experiencing the sights and tastes of the country life is just outside the city limits. Within minutes you can be visiting Grandpa's Village, Sweeties Candy Shop, The Flour Barrel, and many other shops and boutiques that offer a wide variety of local crafts and decor for sale.
