I love the beauty of Appleton. It is a small town, filled with hiking trails, an excellent shopping mall, the Performing Arts Center, and more! Appleton also offers many events to bring the community together and educate its inhabitants on other cultures, art, music, and entrepreneurship. If there was one thing I could change about Appleton, it would be the quality of the roads. Many backroads and neighborhood streets have potholes and are extremely uneven. Overall, I think Appleton is beautiful city that would make the perfect home or travel destination.
For a small city out in the middle of farmland and cornfields property taxes are outrageous.
Groceries, the produce is horrible, aisles and aisles of frozen pizza, and meat and seafood selection is very limited.
Festivals and farmers market are small and quaint.
Has the usual franchise of restaurants and retail stores. Local owned restaurants are a hit or miss. Very few are excellent.
Muggy summers. Cold winters.
New construction homes are overpriced most lack quality. Their term condominium here means you own the house, but not the land. HOAs are ridiculously high.
If you are thinking to relocate here, do your homework; zoning, taxes, home prices, home builders, weather and etc. more than likely you look elsewhere.

Appleton is a city of connection and innovation. It is a city where the arts and creativity are valued beyond measure, as seen with the funding of the Trout Art Museum and arts programs throughout schools. It is a tight-knit community with many different backgrounds and cultures. I have had the privilege of seeing the diversity that Appleton offers many times, and my connection to the community has only grown as I become a young adult who is involved in the community to a higher degree. My only real complaint with Appleton is that the city is not walkable, and a car is required for most inter-city travel. However, beyond that, growing up in Appleton is an experience I will treasure for the rest of my life.
