I've grown right next door to the city of Anoka and also attend Anoka high school. Anoka is the Halloween Captial of the world which brings so much spirit to the streets and local businesses! Anoka attracts thousands by holding the annual Anoka Halloween parade, the Anoka County fair, and the point where the Rum River meets the Mississippi. If there were one thing to change it would have to be the constant construction, but this is something you find all over Minnesota. Overall this city holds so much history and spirit, I would not have wanted to grow up anywhere else!
It is a quiet, pleasant city with mostly farmland and a downtown area. Amazing parks and paths are located throughout the town as well. A variety of living options that you may choose based on income. The overall community is diverse, welcoming, and peaceful. Many locations (business and residential) are located on the water.
I've been living in Anoka for almost half a decade now and I will say, without question, Anoka is an amazing town! The nightlife is great, everyone is friendly and the overall environment is filled with history and character; especially around Halloween.
