Truly a magical place! A2 exists in its own world and operates drastically different from anywhere outside the city line. As the most educated city in America, A2 is full of sharp and highly intelligent people. These people tend to be very eccentric, youthful, and sometimes prickly or rude, regardless of age. It's a city of the forever young! Very walkable and dense in the urban center and stunningly beautiful everywhere you go. World-class dining, an incredibly diverse population, and a strong sense of community and optimism. Most of the population is incredibly wealthy which in turn makes living costs incredibly expensive for everyone else. However, living here is worth the price tag for the experience.
Pro tip living here: take little trips into the real world (outside city lines) to give yourself a mental break sometimes. A2 is such a highly academic environment (even if you're not in school) it can sometimes be draining and feel like you're trapped in a bubble.

It is a very busy college town with lots to do! I live in a safe community away from downtown hustle and the undergraduates. I have heard that the main residential areas can get a bit rowdy over the weekends, especially on big sporting event days. I stick to Kerrytown for boutique shopping, and love walking around downtown Ann Arbor on Sundays. Parking is insane here and very limited. It is even hard to get decent parking when I work for the University. That's why I enjoy events and walking around town on Sundays when parking is free. Overall, I have enjoyed my experience here!
Overall, Ann Arbor is nice place to grow up as it is extremely safe and family friendly. Being a college town, most of its residents lean more liberal. It is home to a ton of lovely nature spots such as the Nicholas Arboretum, Barton pond, Bird Hills, Matthei Botanical gardens, and more. Compared to other cities, the Ann Arbor's public transportation fairs well. The public schools in the area also rank highly amongst Michigan schools. While there are some positive aspects to living in Ann Arbor, there are some cons as well. The cost of living is one of the highest in the state. There also isn't much of a nightlife as most places close fairly early, especially restaurants. There are a few popular bars, however most are overcrowded with undergraduate students, so if you're older that may not be interest to you. Diversity-wise, Ann Arbor does better than neighboring towns, yet it is still predominantly white. Depending on career path, there are a decent amount of job opportunities.
