If I could live here again, I would say yes. I live on campus at University of Massachusetts - Amherst. The campus offers great security. There are always events and clubs that keep me busy. This area is generally very nice; there are many great restaurants/ cafes, shopping centers, and hobby stores.

There are not many crimes in Amherst that I know of. The only crimes that I can thing of occur on campuses where alcohol and safety are a big problem. There have been instances of rape, drug related violence, and other violations, but they are very rare and are always taken care of.
Living in Amherst is wonderful most of the time. The area is beautiful and peaceful, but the universities bring in life and great events that otherwise wouldn't come. The town has a great feel and the people are highly opinionated and highly involved. I love living here, but I plan on moving to a city in the future. I'd consider moving back here to start a family.
