This small rural town is improving, but has a long way to go. It has much potential, being located at the crossroads of two major roads, but other nearby towns have been developed at a much faster rate. I'm looking forward to seeing how Amenia grows in coming years
Between the State Police and the Sheriff's Department less than a mile from each other of Route 22, you will be harassed. The public school system is great if your children want to be farmers. It's backwards and boring and my neighbors were once clients of the Harlem Valley Psych Center. This IS NOT a family friendly place. It is oppressive, ignorant and hillbilly.
Small town lots of drama. Not much for kids to do. School district is not a great place for a good education.
