Aloha definitely has a lower economic status than the rest of the Portland suburbs. Because of this, it is a bit more sketchy than other areas around Portland. Besides this though, I personally like Aloha because it is only a five minute drive away from farmland. It helps people who don't like cities not feel so claustrophobic. It is a 20 minute (with no traffic) drive away from Portland as well. The biggest downside of Aloha to me is the urbanization that is occurring everywhere. The schools in this area are great (despite their reputations) because there is little judging and diversity is always accepted.

I have lived in Aloha for five years now and I thoroughly enjoy it. Easy access to downtown Portland, an hour drive to the coast and an hour and a half to Mt. Hood for skiing and snowboarding. There are plenty of local farmers markets to shop as well as commercial grocers. Aloha and surrounding cities have done well with establishing excellent walking and biking trails to enjoy that often times wind through and around nature preserve parks. Aloha is a great place to live and work.
I love living here. It isn’t too busy, there isn’t much crime and it’s close to everything you could ever want!
