Allendale is a great community. It is very family orientated with a lot of town programs geared toward families. It is a green town with multiple parks, lots of open spaces, one of the only bird sanctuaries around and a beautiful lake where people can join to swim all summer.
Schools are fantastic with many supplemental programs to offer to the children. Most families are very involved.

Lived in Allendale for 12 years. Extremely high property taxes. When we moved the town wouldn’t give us a courtesy bulk garbage move out pick up. Then the town threatened to fine us for the garbage left on the curb. We were forced to use a junk pickup company and pay $829 out of pocket.
Too snobby and pretentious. Schools are incredibly competitive. A place that is very isolated from the rest of the world; unrealistic .
