I have lived in Allen Park for as long as I can remember. It is a fine place with a lot of sweet people, who are willing to help you and who are willing to include you in anything. Especially in the high school, I feel included and loved. But outside of it, not everything is perfect. There are many ignorant people who can be very offensive according to race, gender identity, and sexuality. There is some discrimination felt on a daily basis with many in our community. We still have a long way to go but I feel like the steps are being taken for others to feel included.
Allen Park is a safe little town where the people of the community are joined together in its neighborhood, school, and library activities. I remember walking to school there is this nursing home for the elderly and the residents used to be so bright and chill. Always asking me how my day was or things like that. In Allen park, you see many people running or walking their animal or even on a bike ride. With covid around many people follow the guidelines of being 5 feet away from each other but still we all find a way to say hello. Downtown there are stores from potery to watching a movie, I can think of so many things to do there. There is even an escape room by the middle school. Being a citizen of Allen park has made me realize what a good place it is. You should definitely visit Allen Park.
I've lived her for about 10 years now and the people and community is so nice and friendly for the most part. The parks are very nice and very well kept up most of the time and it is a nice place to live. Although, from being in high school I have realized how un-excepting a lot people are of minorities and often times racist to them. A survey we did for my psychology class showed that minorities were often scared to come to school due to poor treatment and racism. I would love to see this change. At my school as of right now we only have a 15% minority rate. In addition, we have no African American or hispanic teachers. I believe that exposer to minorities is the best way for people to become more excepting. Overall, I believe that Allen Park is an amazing city but it just needs to become more diverse and the community as a whole needs to be more excepting of minorities.
