Allegany, NY is a small town with a lot of character. Because there is a university (St Bonaventure University) located on the outskirts of the town, the traffic is a lot thicker than a normal small town would have. There are many eclectic shops on the main street. Very quite, nice town to live in.
Allegany is a quaint little town. There isn't much here. There are some schools, fire station, ice cream shop, and gas station. In the middle of the town, on Main Street there are a couple of cute stores, organic grocery, music store and an art studio. Very safe community to raise a family. Lots of Mom and Pop stores.
Its a small little town but a great place to grow up. I love living in Allegany its such a close community and a really nice place to live.
If someone is interested in going shopping, as in retail, there is not much in the way of a mall. We do have a lot of chain fast food places and department stores, but nothing too up scale. There are few mom and pop shops left but the ones still standing are quite nice.
Can only do so much.
Health system in the whole US still needs help.
Lots of places to eat. Locally owned mainly but some chains.
Not many things going except in the summer time.
More family owned businesses than chains.
Some areas are safe and some are not
Some areas could be cleaned up
Scenes are beautiful in the valley.
Not much to do in this area unless you drive to Buffalo.
More jobs need to be brought in.
Volunteer fire department in Allegany is very efficient.
Great schools. People are friendly.
