I have lived here my whole life and have little else to go on. I believe that my community has grown and is continuing to grow over recent years. I am content with living here, but given the opportunity would most likely move to have that chance to spread my wings!
Alexandria is a small town located in central Louisiana in Rapides Parish. It has seen some population growth over the past few years. However, there are limited professional opportunities and a lack of community events that promote social interactions. The public school system is academically sub par, with the majority of the schools ranked with a C average or below. Alexandria does, however, have college level institutions that offer four year degrees. Louisiana State university of Alexandria being one of them. The quality of neighborhoods in Alexandria have been on the decline with the crime rate increasing year after year. In 2015, Alexandria was ranked 5th among the most dangerous places to live in the south, with violent crimes being at the top of the list of offenses.

Overall, despite Alexandria's population growth and attempts to promote a greater since of culture, it is still lacking in job opportunities, social activities, and a sense of safety for its residents.
