I was born and raised in the little town of Albany, Louisiana, which is located about ten miles west of Hammond, and forty -five miles east of Baton Rouge. My entire family graduated from Albany High School. In this family oriented town, everyone knows everyone, and most people are related. What truly makes this small town, with only one red light, special is the way Albanians are always there for one another. to lend a helping hand. One thing's for sure, Albany is a safe, family oriented place to live. Albany also has great schools. If you ever visit Albany, Louisiana you will surely feel right at home and feel like a part of the community family.
Albany is the southern, small town typical of Bible-belt states. It's public schools are okay but filled with the same people forever. There is little to no diversity, the majority being white, conservative, Christians. There is very little to do as well.
There are really only two seasons here in Southeast Louisiana, Summer and Winter! The winters are not typically bad, but they are wet and the cold is painful! But they do not stay that way for long! Sometimes we have very mild winters that barely get cold! The Summer months begin here when most people are just starting to thaw out! We can swim from about April until October, most years! There are a lot of severe thunderstorms, though. Sometimes, these include tornados. During Hurricane season we are typically pretty aware! Being located in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico makes for good hurricane entry. But, overall it's okay!
