Being born and Raised in Alamo has been interesting. Where i live, others see it as the worst part of Alamo to live in. A couple of years ago we had no lamp posts and the roads were full of holes. At night we never knew what was going on, there were so many people consuming drugs and committing acts that could possibly hinder others. With an organization called Arise, we protested and asked for the city of Alamo to get us lamp post and fix our streets. After so many days of protesting we finally got lamp posts and our streets fixed. We are slowly growing into a better community and city.
I love Alamo. I use to live up north with very few Hispanics. Coming down to the valley has allowed me to appreciate the people around me especially since I am around Hispanics who I can relate to. There is a lot of fast food restaurants which I love. Alamo is also between Mercedes and Edinburg so getting to the mall or to the outlets is around a 20-25 minute drive. The only downfall is the music. Sometimes people love to play music until midnight or even later which doesn't let me sleep sometimes, but that is just a few times a month.
My experience living in Alamo Texas is amazing, the neighborhoods are very calm filled with kind people ready to help in times of need. We have local parks for evenings with the family and have both local businesses and all around markets such as Walmart and HEB. Their is always an event to attend and enjoy, festivals, parades and much more. Over all Alamo is a wonderful place to live or visit full great experiences and has a welcoming spirit to all who come.
