Working in Alachua
Alachua makes you feel like you belong and are home. The unity of the community is great! The town truly makes you feel like you are a part of a family. Growing up here, I have felt comfortable to become a strong and compassionate person. Because of such a great experience I have had, I plan to come back later on in life to raise my own family. I highly recommend the town of Alachua, Florida!
Growing up in Alachua for eighteen years, you slowly start to realize things wrong about a small town in Florida. This town may be diverse with the typical Caucasian, African-American, and Latinos, and (Asian Indian), but it's diversity level still has a long way to go. All three schools, whether Irby Elementary, Mebane Middle School, or Santa Fe High School are not the best schools. The primary reason is that most staff do not care about their students. Because it is a small town, there is not that many job opportunities besides fast-food restaurants. Not much happens in town safety-wise, but there was a recent shooting having to do with gang-violence. To go anywhere is average at certain times, you can walk out at night and not worry about too much danger. Many housing developments are arising, but because it is a small town, it is expensive in Alachua.
Alachua is a very fun place to live. There is a historic feeling with the downtown Alachua. There are many local shops and restaurants that are very nice and contribute to the towns look. I would love to see more local shops come into town!
