Akron is a great small town! It is 30 minutes from several bigger towns. There is a great grocery store, multiple banks, hair salons and other amenities. The people are friendly and I wouldn't want to raise my children anywhere else.
Akron is a calm, small town with several ties to the local agricultural way of living. Previously having been focused more or less as a retirement town, the past decade or so has seen the town become a home to a growing number of new families and faces. There isn't necessarily a large amount of things to do in the town. The schooling and teachers are fairly decent. There is a good potential for new ideas and businesses.
Crime rate is really low
The houses are lovely lots of room all around
People like to raise their kids in this area and grow old in this area
Very safe small town, one stop light, no traffic, a lot of farmers out there, great public school
There is not much to see in this area at all. Tourism is non-existant
The only real weather problems you have to worry about are the tornadoes that happen in the summer. However, most of them do not do any damage, but the warnings can disrupt normal life.
The variety of restaurants is severely lacking. However, the ones that are there do a great job of providing a reasonably priced meal.
I believe that the local businesses do the best that they can here. Most of the stores are family owned, which is nice because it you know you are supporting your friends when you shop there.
