Well let's start with the reason for the five star rating I just gave!
It's for five star corruption, you know the people that rule in the circle
of Aiken, they destroy good peoples lives for their own personal gain.
I laugh at them, I say to them look where you are living within ( In a circle
with corrupt people) As James Bond once said "Well enjoy yourself" If
that's possible, The people you dwell with within your circle are just like
you, no way you can let your guard down, it's like a circle of rich zombies!

I stayed there for 1 month. It was IMPOSSIBLE to make a doctor's appointment in Aiken or Augusta. There is a lot of laziness. Secondly, many of the "charming" boutique ladies were welcoming to my artisan friend, a blue eyed blond. To myself, also an artisan but an Afro-Cuban-German, they were MUCH less welcoming. When ever I spoke with them it was like they had eaten a lemon. The town is scarred by ugly electrical pylons, heavy wires &
electrical equipment that runs along the main streets and residential areas. Imediatly outside of Aiken the area is surrounded by severely dilapidated trailer parks with chained dogs. Also, it seems that there is little-no art (hi or low) in terms of music or events. The only thing I found was a coyote hunt event with prizes for the most kills. On the plus side Aiken has pretty private gardens and beautifully landscaped homes in the nice areas. Augusta is dismal in the extreme--crumbling architecture & society. They have a mall so there is shopping.

I love Aiken! I recently moved from California with my family and I am enjoying the change of pace. Everyone is friendly and the population size is great! It has a lot of horse-related things if you and equestrian. Aiken also has Hopeland garden and Citizens park that you can take a walk in and take in all of the sites. The downtown has a cute charm to it with lots of healthy eating options. The Alley is a great place to go in the evening with friends and family to have a sit-down dinner. They often have live music playing during the beautiful summer nights. On the outskirts of Aiken are chain food restaurants and department stores. Aiken, it's self does not have a mall but we are 40 minutes away for August which has a beautiful indoor mall.
