Abita Springs Reviews
Abita Springs, Louisiana is beautiful piece of America and a great place to live and raise children. Scenic waterways, pine forest, and oaks abound. We've been here since 1984 having moved from the suburbs of New Orleans. We're in the heart of a major ozone belt so we have clean air and water. Abita Springs is wonderful small town living with great food, neighbors, and music. We are 20 miles from Lake Pontchartrain and only 60 miles form the French Quarter in New Orleans. Abita Springs is the former site of a Choctaw Indian Village named for Indian Princess, Abita, or so the legend goes. French explorers and trappers lived among the Choctaw as early as the 1690s.
Abita is a small, lovely town! Very connected with many local gatherings and events such as Farmer's market, garden of the month, Mardi Gras Pushmow parade, events at the trailhead, etc. Always making little improvements such as planting flowers and such in the round-about.
Abita is a great small town. It has grown a lot throughout the years. It's very focused on community involvement and sustainability. It is becoming a very eco-friendly city.
