Abingdon, Virginia is an amazing, friendly little town. Our community consists of about 8,000 people and it is nestled in the foothills of southwest Virginia. Because Abingdon is part of the Appalachian mountains, there are many outdoor activities to choose from.
Abingdon is also a historic landmark. The state theater of Virginia, 'Barter Theatre', is located in Abingdon, as is the well-known Martha Washington Inn. History tells us that Daniel Boone was attacked by wolves in Abingdon, which gave the town the nickname of 'Wolf Hills'.
Abingdon has won several national 'small town' awards. Each year the town hosts an annual antiques festival called the 'Highlands Festival'. Antiques vendors and vacationers come from all over the country to attend this event. If you have never visited Abingdon before, I highly recommend it!

I've lived in Abingdon for most of my life and have always enjoyed it! In town, there is beautiful decor year-round with many different restaurants, entertainment places, and stores. Abingdon is a very safe town and a wonderful place to raise a family. Abingdon is also 10-15 minutes from Bristol, VA where there are also more restaurants and entertainment venues to visit.
Abingdon is a quaint little town nestled in the hills of Southwest Virginia. If you're looking for something to do in this cozy town, you could spend an afternoon of shopping downtown, take a relaxing hike to Damascus on The Creeper Trail, or try your luck at the ring toss when the Washington County Fair is in town. Abingdon is not only a wonderful place to visit but a great place to live as well. The people are friendly, the food is delicious, and the mountain air is fresh!
